We happened to attend a wedding a few months ago. According to our traditions, the focus of the wedding was the bride with her Eastern looks. She was wearing a wonderful wedding dress woven with gold strings. I admired the elegant bride and her dress. She blushed and smiled. I asked with curiosity about the designer and price of her wedding dress. It seemed like it would cost many lakes. Generally, well-known bridal designer dresses cost in lakes. The bride’s mother uttered a strange name, “She is wearing Maryum n Maria’s brand. It was a ready-to-wear dress and cost only 40,000”. I was surprised, but I know that lady. She never lied, so I believed her. But I was astonished how such a beautiful designer dress could be such a low price.

I looked at the bride amazingly again. She also smiled lightly. Because compared to the most famous brands, the price was very reasonable and the quality was not low in any way. It was a meticulous machine-embroidered pure chiffon dress. The woman further said, “Just like all other parents, we also started dreaming of her marriage from the day she was born. We sacrificed our own needs for her wishes. Our biggest wish was that we would make her wedding day memorable. We’ll bring princess-like goods and dresses for her. But when the day we went shopping for a designer wedding dress, we were shocked. The prices were so high that one could get married within that huge amount. We returned home empty-handed and disappointed because we couldn’t afford to buy such an expensive wedding dress. Another day, we passed by Maryum n Maria’s outlet in the market. We entered that shop to get out of the feeling of heat. But our fate seemed to have pulled us here. We knew the price of expensive designer dresses, so we didn’t ask for any dress’s price. Suddenly our daughter turned the tag of a beautiful wedding dress, and we were surprised to see the “price only 40,000 Rs”. We immediately bought that dress as we could not find such a beautiful but affordable dress again. We had ordered some other party dresses from a local market. Those local unskilled and nonprofessional shopkeepers not only wasted our time and money but did not provide a single dress with the required quality. We were unsatisfied but had to purchase those. Since that day, we have decided to purchase all luxury dresses for our family from Maryum n Maria. They have a beautiful collection and can compete with any renowned brand”.

There was a lot to learn from this whole story. This new brand entered a highly competitive market. But its strategy seems it has reduced its cost of production by introducing meticulously machine embroidery techniques instead of hand embellishments. So if you want that your business grows like a brand, you should discover your uniqueness and skills, polish them, and set the strategies for positioning, marketing and expanding your brand and growth. You should set your goals high but fulfil your commitments in any circumstances.

Your skill is your unique identity. It isn’t conditioned with any qualification if you have a will. A quite illiterate lady was very good at washing clothes & ironing them. She never got rid of doing that work. It was her unique skill, and she grew her laundry brand in her area. She added value to it, “We separately wash down every client’s clothes and provide the repairing of torn or damaged dresses too”.

So never undermine your qualifications, experiences, interests, expertise and proficiencies. If local small businessmen want to expand and develop their business, “Maryam and Maria” is an excellent example.

First, set your strategies.

1.     What are your mission and vision?

2.     Who are your competitors, and what strategies do they position in the market?

3.     What is the gap, and what will be your value addition?

4.     What are the market trends?

5.     Who are your target clients?

6.     How to influence and alter their buying decisions?

7.     What unique product or skill will you offer?

8.     When to offer?

9.     What will be your structure system?

10. How to engage your clients with your brand message? Hence they get an understanding and insight into the brand.

11. How to continue the evolution process with fast techniques and revolution in market trends? It will boost your enthusiasm and will never let you put it off.

12.  How to track your accomplishments for future motivation?

13. Why focus on marketing strategies more?

14. What will be the unique logo, name and tagline of your brand identity which stay longer than usual in your clients’ memory?

15. When to humanize your brand with your clients’ story or your foundation period?

16. How many team members to hire with creative, imaginative, inquisitive, analytical and communication skills in the brand-building process?

Stephen Houraghan has designed a program to become a brand master. He says, “In creating a system to transform my business, I created a product that my clients desperately needed.

·        They had no competitive advantage.

·        They had no position.

·        They had no personality.

·        They had no message or story.

·        They had no system to communicate.

·        They had no compelling offer.

·        They had no brand strategy.

Back when I lost my first few referral clients, I was overwhelmed and had no idea how I could turn it all around. But after years of intense research, I finally had a strategy for my brand.

·        I knew who my audience was.

·        I knew what made me different.

·        I knew how to position my message and offer.

·        I knew how to generate leads.

·        I knew how to convert them.

·        I knew how to build a strategic brand.

Finally, I began to refine my processes, documents and records, the system which has become Brand Master Secrets.”

If you think you have the potential to grow like a brand, you must groom your expertise first. And if you want to flourish in the long run, you must promise yourself to fulfil the commitments. So whenever you aim to start a business or become a service provider, keep these strategies in mind. These will help you grow like a renowned brand and you will enjoy success.
